The Egyptian NextGen Society (ENGS) was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a dedicated space where young Egyptians, aged 18 to 35, residing in the West, particularly here in Calgary, could connect, grow, and empower one another. We recognized a critical need within this dynamic demographic for a community that not only fostered professional development and networking opportunities but also celebrated shared heritage and encouraged personal growth through vibrant social interaction, all while navigating life in a varying cultural landscape.
The seeds of ENGS were sown in early 2024, when a small group of passionate individuals, all within the target age range and living in Calgary, began discussing the lack of a centralized platform for their peers. They envisioned a society that would bridge the gaps between aspiring professionals, seasoned mentors, and like-minded individuals seeking to expand their horizons in a Western context. Through countless late-night discussions and collaborative planning sessions, the framework for ENGS began to take shape, with a keen awareness of the unique experiences of young Egyptians raised outside of Egypt.
What started as a shared vision among a few quickly garnered enthusiasm from a wider circle within the Calgary Egyptian community. The founding members, driven by a collective desire to make a tangible difference, meticulously crafted a mission that prioritized both structured development and organic community building, specifically tailored to the needs of those living abroad. They believed that by creating a supportive ecosystem, young Egyptians in the West could unlock their full potential, both individually and collectively, while maintaining a strong connection to their roots.
And so, at the end of 2024, the Egyptian NextGen Society officially launched, fueled by the slogan "Creating a vibrant community for young Egyptians (18-35) through socializing, networking, and personal growth." Since then, ENGS has been dedicated to fulfilling this promise, striving to be the go-to platform for the next generation of Egyptian leaders, innovators, and change-makers in the West. We are proud of our humble beginnings and excited for the future as we continue to grow and evolve with our incredible community here in Calgary and beyond.
